Governor Profiles - Loughborough Primary School

Governor Profiles

Sarah Haines

I am the Chair of Governors at Loughborough Primary School. I have been part of the Governing Board since 2016 and am proud to work for our school and support the ongoing development of our children both academically and personally. As Chair I serve on the Resources and Teaching & Learning Committees.

For work, I am an Operations Director at Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon’s technology business. I’ve spent most of my career leading Business Operations/Strategy teams in both very large and small companies and find the skills learnt in my profession of benefit to my role as a Governor and Chair of Loughborough Primary School.

I work closely with our Headteacher, Laura McPhee, and the rest of the Senior Leadership Team to offer supportive challenge to their decision making, always ensuring we are putting the interests of the children at Loughborough Primary School first.

Anthony Miller

Anthony Miller photoI’ve had the privilege of being a member of the Governing Board since 2017, on which I serve as Vice Chair and as Chair of the Board’s Resources Committee. I’m very proud to work with and support our school, its children and its staff.

As for my day job, I’m a Civil Servant at the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy. In recent times, I’ve been a negotiator on the UK’s trade agreement with the European Union, and am currently focused on the implementation of that deal. The Civil Service supports its people in volunteering in their communities, and I’ve been keen to make the most of that at our school. My career has pretty much always involved providing scrutiny, analysis and advice, which I do my best to turn to the benefit of Loughborough Primary School.

For work, I am a Senior Treasury and Pensions Accountant at Haringey Council. As a qualified accountant I bring experience of budgeting, forecasting, local government financial processes and procedures, combining astute analysis with meticulous attention to detail.

Jess Seddon

Jessica Seddon imageI joined the LPS Governing body in November 2018, and since then have worked with the rest of the board and the Senior Leadership Team through a number of significant changes that the school has undergone. Within the body I sit on the Resources Committee - a group of governors with an emphasis on the financial and budgetary aspects of the school's operations.

Professionally, I am a qualified Chartered Accountant and work as a Consultant at KPMG, focussing on strategy and business operations. I live locally to the school with my husband and young son.

I am very proud to be part of such a diverse and committed body of governors and to work with such inspiring staff members and leaders, who consistently put the wellbeing and development of the LPS children at the heart of everything they do.

Katie Freeman

I have been a member of the Governing Board at Loughborough Primary School since 2019 and I am currently chair of the Teaching and Learning committee. I am passionate about supporting the education and wellbeing of children in my local community and I am proud to do this as a member of the Loughborough Primary School board.

I currently work for a children’s charity that provides and campaigns for school breakfast provision, where I am the Impact, Research and Data Manager. As a result, I am familiar with the education sector and have found this knowledge invaluable in my role as governor and Chair of the Teaching and Learning committee.

As a member of the board I work to ensure that the school is providing a good quality education for all pupils at Loughborough Primary School so they can reach their full potential.

Peter Wright

I am a LA Governor at Loughborough Primary school with special responsibility for the PE and Sports Premium and Premises, Health and Safety. I am a long- standing governor who served as Chair for six years until 2020.

I am a retired social worker with an understanding of how the school provides both a stimulating education for our children and a valuable source of social support through its links with community resources and statutory provision. This has been highlighted by our response to the Covid- 19 pandemic.

I am pleased to be part of the Governing Body, supporting the Headteacher with the management of the school’s resources and ensuring maximum benefit to pupils. I value being able to support the Headteacher and her Senior Leadership Team through being a critical friend.

Harley Bishop

I joined the Governing body at Loughborough in the summer of 2021. I’m a member of the teaching and learning committee and a link governor for oracy. That means supporting Loughborough to become a school where talk is passionate and purposeful.

For the past three years I have worked as an education consultant at Voice 21, supporting schools across the country to develop their oracy curriculum and offer. I’ve now returned to the classroom and work as a primary school teacher in North London.

I’m proud to be part of the governing body at Loughborough and to witness the inspirational work staff and students produce day in and day out!
