Curriculum Intent
Our computing curriculum aims to give children the skills and confidence they need to thrive in a digital world. We want pupils to understand how technology works, use it safely and creatively, and develop problem-solving skills that prepare them for the future.
Our Offer
At Loughborough, we follow the KAPOW Primary Computing Curriculum, a comprehensive and engaging programme that ensures children develop the knowledge, skills, and understanding they need to become confident, capable, and responsible users of technology.
Our curriculum is structured around key strands including Computer Science, Information Technology, and Digital Literacy. Through these strands, pupils learn how computers and networks function, how to create and manipulate digital content, and how to stay safe and respectful online.
Children take part in hands‑on, practical learning experiences that build essential skills such as coding, problem‑solving, logical thinking, multimedia creation, and communication.
By building these skills progressively through the KAPOW scheme, our pupils become confident creators—not just consumers—of digital technology. We aim to equip every child with the digital competence and understanding they need to thrive in an increasingly technology‑driven world.
Impact
By the end of primary school, pupils will be confident, responsible users of technology. They will understand key computing concepts, be able to create and debug programs, and know how to stay safe online. These skills prepare them for secondary school and the digital challenges of the modern world.
